Frequently Asked Questions
What do I do in a counseling session?
If it is your first time in counseling, don’t worry! You don’t have to prepare anything. I will guide you through the process. I will ask you some questions to get an understanding of what you are struggling with and what you would like your life to look like instead. We will set some goals and I will help you move towards those goals. All you have to do is be honest and open. The rest we will do together.
How long are counseling visits?
My visits are usually between 45 - 50 minutes. Nervous about filling that time? Trust me, that time will start to feel like it flies by! We will make the best use of the time.
How much does it cost?
This depends a lot on your insurance. I do accept some insurance plans. In the case that you have one of those insurance plans, you will likely only pay your co-pay for our visits.
If I don’t take your insurance plan, don’t worry! There is another option to give you some coverage. I can provide a Superbill, which is essentially an invoice. You can take that to your insurance to get some reimbursement for my visits as an “out of network provider.” In my experience, insurance plans typically cover most of the visit, other than what you would pay for a co-pay. I charge $200 for each visit, which is the amount on the Superbill that you will take to your insurance to get some reimbursement.
Do I have to come see you in person?
Absolutely not! I know it can be easier to schedule a virtual visit when you are at work or home instead of having to commute to my office in Bothell. I am more than happy to schedule a video visit through my secure video platform. I will send you a video link the day before our appointment.
What if I need to cancel my appointment?
Life happens! I understand when things come up - sickness, weather, work, family, etc! This stuff is unavoidable! I do ask that you try your best to give me 24 hours notice so that I can try to fill your appointment slot with another person who needs support. I do charge the full visit if you cancel under 24 hours. I will do my best to fill your cancelled appointment spot and if I am able to fill your slot, I will waive your late cancel fee.
What kind of things can you help me with?
Great question! The list of things is long! To keep it short, I want to help you with whatever you are facing in life. That could be things like anxiety, depression, trauma, etc. But it could also be struggles coping with your physical health: a new diagnosis, coping with a chronic health condition, chronic pain, insomnia. We could also work on the challenge of changing habits to improve your health, such as quitting smoking, losing weight, etc.
Whatever it is that you are facing in life, let’s face it together.
How can I reach you after hours if I am in crisis?
Unfortunately, I may not be available after hours/on the weekends. I want to make sure you get the support you need when you need it. So if you are in crisis after hours, please don’t wait for me to respond. I encourage you to immediately seek support through the crisis line: 988.
